photographed in FNQ The Cassowary is a member of the Ratite (flightless birds without a keel on their sternum bone) they are rare,native to the tropical forests of New Guinea, nearby islands, and north Eastern Australia.There are three extant species. The most common of these, the southern cassowary, is the third tallest and second heaviest living bird, smaller only than the ostrich and emu.Thy like papaya and have been known to attack and kill humans!
